5 power forwards free agent options: D.J. Wilson
While on the subject of gambles in free agency, Millsap isn’t the only one on this list. Enter D.J. Wilson who spent this past season with the Milwaukee Bucks and then the Houston Rockets. The reason why he’s a gamble is because he hasn’t been given much of a chance to have a consistent role in his career.
At 6-foot-10 he has great size for the power forward position and can defend opposing centers as well. Last season, he averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds, while making 34.5 percent of his 3-pointers.
Wilson is a great athlete and while he doesn’t make the best decisions on the court, he has been steadily improving over his career. The question is can he be a rotational player on a title-contending team?
The upside is there for the 25-year-old big man. If he’s able to make the right decisions on the court, he has the skill to fill a lot of holes on the coming of the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s totally worth the risk on the mid-level exception and if he doesn’t work out then use him in a trade later on.
