5 centers free agent options: Tacko Fall

To be clear, if the Philadelphia 76ers go after Tacko Fall, he shouldn’t be the primary backup for Embiid. However, he’d be a great player to have for added depth deeper on the bench. At 7-foot-5, Fall is the tallest player in the NBA and in certain matchups can be a solid option to move to.

Granted Fall was on a two-way deal the past two seasons with the Boston Celtics and the 76ers could sign him to that same type of deal again or to a minimum deal. If signed to a regular deal, he’d be 14th or 15th guy on the roster.

Fall has some pros and cons, for example, coaches can’t teach height. His pure size alone makes him a very good rim protector. He can also finish around the rim at an above average rate. The downside to that size is that he’s not super mobile and can be taken advantage of against quick players.

Last season, the 25-year-old big man averaged 2.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 7.2 minutes per game. He also converted 72.4 percent of his field goal attempts. He’s a project but one that the Sixers should consider.
