5 centers free agent options: JaVale McGee
Once a star on “Shaqin-a-Fool”, now JaVale McGee is a respected veteran who can defend, rebound, and finish at the rim for a championship team. He’s probably one of the more ideal fits and gettable centers on the market this offseason for any contender.
McGee had a brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, but if signed this summer by the franchise, he’d easily eclipse his number of games played from his previous stint which was six contests. McGee has been a starter for two championship teams and is a solid fill-in starter if Embiid misses games next season.
Last season, he averaged 7.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. He also made 51.1 percent of his field goals. He’s would be able to anchor in the team’s second unit defense and is capable as a starter if the need arises.
It will probably take the mid-level exception to get the services of the 33-year-old veteran center. McGee would be one of the better backups in Embiid’s career up to this point and that’s important for Philly.
