Sixers’ possible Danny Green sign-and-trade with Pelicans
This is probably the cleanest swap on the board. Josh Hart’s desire to leave New Orleans is the worst kept secret in basketball, while Green would fit comfortably into a starting five made up of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Jonas Valanciunas, and Devonte’ Graham.
Hart is probably the best player mentioned opposite Green in this article, and at 26 years old, he is just entering his basketball prime. Last season, he averaged 9.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 28.7 minutes per game. He only shot 32.6 percent from deep, but Hart’s toughness, effort, and basketball I.Q. all stand out.
The absolute ideal scenario for Philadelphia is, still, re-signing Green for whatever price he commands. That said, Hart is younger and could fetch a similarly affordable deal. Also, any 6-foot-5 wing who averages 10.1 rebounds per 36 minutes is a fan-favorite waiting to happen. Add in Hart’s Villanova roots, and it’s a match made in heaven.
Another name to watch is Tomas Satoransky, who the Pelicans received as part of the Lonzo Ball sign-and-trade. He’s making $10 million in expiring money, and is another legitimately useful rotation piece. Last season in Chicago, he averaged 7.7 points and 4.7 assists on 51.4 percent shooting.
