Sixers: 3 key lessons from Summer League win over Mavs
The Sixers look to have a very good young core in the summer league, which was on full display as they rolled past the Dallas Mavericks in their summer league opener Monday afternoon.
Tyrese Maxey led the way with 21 points, five rebounds, and three steals as he looks to solidify his spot in the rotation next season.
Key lessons from Sixers’ win over Mavs: Isaiah Joe could earn minutes
Tyrese Maxey finished the game on a high note, while Isaiah Joe finished the game with 15 points and four rebounds. Joe also finished the game with four 3-pointers made. If Joe can shoot effectively outside the arc he could also solidify a spot off the bench for the Sixers as they desperately need 3-point shooters. I mean, he was knocking them down contested, open, you name it.
Key lessons from Sixers’ win over Mavs: Tyrese Maxey will be huge part of team (if not traded)
Tyrese Maxey put on a show, finishing with 21 points. I think Maxey will find a lot of success on this Sixers team. He’s a gritty player who can create his own shot, pass the ball, play defense, hustle his heart out, and make his teammates better. He just fits the Philadelphia culture.
The only thing is if the Sixers want a good package for Ben Simmons, they would almost have to include Maxey to make a trade work. If Maxey does stay in Philadelphia, expect him to have a big role in his sophomore season.
Key lessons from Sixers’ win over Mavs: Philly might win the Summer League title
This Sixers summer league team has a legitimate shot of winning the title. With Tyrese Maxey playing the way he’s been playing and Isaiah Joe shooting the way he’s shooting, plus the defensive mindset this team team has, it’s something that has to be said. Jaden Springer didn’t play that bad either, contributing 11 points and two blocks.
All In all, this was definitely a very successful Summer League opener for the Sixers and there’s a huge level of confidence within the organization in the young talent that is on this basketball team.
