Potential camp invites on the Summer Sixers: Lamar Peters
Lamar Peters spent three seasons at Mississippi State, but has yet to crack the NBA. He spent time with New York’s Summer League team out of college, and has been with the Westchester Knicks in the G-League, averaging 17.8 points and 7.3 assists for his career.
A twitchy 6-foot guard with broad shoulders and a confident pull-up jumper, Peters is certainly a name to watch in connection to Philadelphia — and not just because the ESPN graphics team jumped the gun.
Peters will not join the mothership any time soon, but he’s another Exhibit 10 candidate who the Sixers could look to evaluate further in Delaware next season. Philadelphia’s guard depth is notoriously thin, and Peters’ skill set is one the Sixers should covet. Dynamic playmakers who can stretch the floor, break down defenses, and create advantages have long been absent in Philadelphia’s rotation.
We didn’t see much of Peters in the Summer Sixers’ opener. He only played six minutes and went scoreless. While the Sixers lack guard depth, the Summer Sixers are rather deep at the position. If Tyrese Maxey eventually bows out, which feels likely, then we could see more of Peters in the upcoming games.
