Potential camp invites on the Summer Sixers: Daishen Nix

Daishen Nix spent last season with the G-League Ignite, where he got buried beneath the barrage of media coverage around Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Isaiah Todd. While he ended up going undrafted, Nix is a top-60 prospect with real NBA upside. He’s the most interesting player on the Summer Sixers who hasn’t already signed with the big squad (save for Bassey, of course).

Nix has reportedly lost weight in preparation for the next level of competition. Last season in the G-League, he averaged  8.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 26.5 minutes per game. He only shot 38.5 percent from the field, but for a 19-year-old making the prep-to-pro jump, that’s respectable production.

He’s an NBA athlete, with a thick frame and excellent physicality playing downhill. He can get to the rim and absorb contact at a high level. If the jumper evens out and he becomes a more consistent finisher, Nix possesses real potential as a slasher and initiator.

There is no better Exhibit 10 candidate on the Summer Sixers’ roster. Nix is young, with a great high school résumé and genuine cachet to his name. He played 14 minutes in Monday’s win over Dallas, contributing six points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Again, if Maxey gets pulled in the forthcoming games, then we could see a lot more Nix. He’s worth keeping around the organization.
