5 free agents to monitor moving forward: Centers

This isn’t the first time I’ve written on DeMarcus Cousins a potential free agent target. The former All-Star still has plenty left in the tank despite experiencing several major injuries. He’s the type of stretch center that the Philadelphia 76ers needs.

Last year he averaged, 8.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists, while making 34.8 percent of his 3-pointers. He was the third string center for the Los Angeles Clippers last season and depending on matchup he could be the primary backup for Embiid this season if he signs with the Sixers.

Now if the 76ers just want a solid third string center, then taking a flyer on Aron Baynes would be a solid bet. Until last season with the Toronto Raptors, Baynes was a very good backup or starting center in the NBA.

However, his poor play with the Raptors really hurt his value and the Raptors ended up waiving the veteran big man. Last season, he averaged 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds, while making only 26.2 percent of his 3-pointers. At the age of 34-years-old, Baynes shouldn’t get regular minutes anymore but he can still play solid minutes every now and then as a third stringer for Philly.
