Re-drafting the 2020 NBA Draft — 24. Kira Lewis Jr., Denver Nuggets

Playing time was scarce for Kira Lewis Jr. as a rookie, but he remains an interesting long-term investment. The Nuggets’ limited point guard depth was exposed in the playoffs, and Lewis would create a neat dynamic with Jokic and the rest of Denver’s roster. He’s probably the fastest player in the draft.

Speed defines Lewis’ game. On offense, Lewis’ quick first step and ability to put pressure on the rim would really benefit the Nuggets. Especially with Jamal Murray sidelined, the Nuggets often struggled to generate looks from the perimeter last season. There’s no shortage of ball movement in Denver’s offense, and Jokic makes it all hum, but Lewis’ ability to get a step on his defender and create advantages getting downhill would fit nicely with the Nuggets’ current group.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, there are certain limitations to Lewis as a defender. Even so, he’s not bad at the point of attack, using his speed and slender frame to slip over screens and stick with his man. He plays hard and smart, and would have real role player upside on a contending team like the Nuggets.
