This week’s Sixers podcast focuses on Summer League lessons, Danny Green’s recruitment, and the psychology of Ben Simmons’ game.
Following our interview with Dhwani, the podcast moves into Sixers talk. We start with Summer League, focusing on the nail-biting OT win over Atlanta and the subsequent blowout loss to Boston. What lessons were learned, and which players stood out most?
We also talk about Tyrese Maxey, who left the Summer Sixers after two games to host a basketball camp in his hometown of Galveston, Texas. The Sixers’ looked lost without him on the court, but is his absence a blessing in disguise?
The next topic is Danny Green, who re-signed on a two-year, $20 million contract after a long, drawn-out free agency period. Rumors indicated he might not return, and several contenders vied for his services. In the end, however, he chose the Sixers. We note the recruitment efforts of Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris, and discuss the degree to which money and “unfinished business” factored into his decision.
To round out the podcast, we talk once again about Ben Simmons. In a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe, former NBA player Metta World Peace opined that Simmons should visit a sports psychologist to address his shooting woes. We debate whether or not that’s a suggestion we, as podcasters, can earnestly make.
