Predicting Sixers NBA 2K22 ratings — Ben Simmons, 85

Last season, Ben Simmons finished at 86. Since then, the playoffs happened, and there’s no longer optimism about Simmons’ future in Philly. Some would argue the league at large has lost faith in him. While that’s a slight stretch, it’s clear Simmons has some work to do offensively. As I have said a billion times already, 2K is a game of offense.

With no outside shot and some paltry scoring numbers, Simmons expect Simmons to slip even lower to start the new year. He’s still an elite defender and playmaker, and yes, 2K does love big athletes, but there’s just too much bad mojo around Simmons right now. His rating is not going to stay the same, and it’s certainly not going to improve.

Simmons should not rank behind Tobias Harris, but that’s how last season ended and it would appear that is where we are heading to start this season. For as long as he’s in a Sixers uniform, Simmons will hold the undisputed title of Philadelphia’s second-best player. Even so, by game logic, there’s probably more value in Tobias Harris’ versatile shot-making.

Trade or no trade, it shouldn’t take long for Simmons to reassert his value next season. He has three consecutive All-Star appearances under his belt, and a strong first month of the season would remind fans league-wide of his talent. He’s not going to escape the playoff bugaboos and the pursuant media frenzy any time soon, but he’s still one heck of a player.
