Predicting Sixers NBA 2K22 ratings — Georges Niang, 73
Georges Niang finished last season at 73 and will likely begin the new year in a similar place. That said, he does have significant potential for growth in Philadelphia, where his role should increase over what it was in Utah. Niang is a prolific spot-up shooter, and is the only playable four in the Sixers’ second unit aside from Paul Reed, who’s a more natural fit at five.
The Sixers signed Niang to a two-year, $6.7 million contract. Last season he played all 72 games, averaging 16.0 minutes a night and shooting 42.5 percent from deep. His skill set revolves almost entirely around that 3-point stroke, but there’s no better place for a one-dimensional shooter than Philadelphia.
If Doc Rivers makes the decision to play Niang regularly at the four, in the role Mike Scott failed to fulfill last season, expect his rating to creep up at least a couple points. He was buried on Utah’s depth chart, despite consistent playing time. The Sixers’ bench has far less established talent.
The 2K gods favor offense, and Niang provides offense, but he’s also a somewhat undersized four. The game, in the past, has put a premium on size, which could hurt Niang. He’s probably better than a 73, but this is not what he should be ranked. It’s what he will be ranked.
