Predicting Sixers NBA 2K22 ratings — Shake Milton, 75
Shake Milton finished last season at 78, placing him above Danny Green and Seth Curry. That should not be the case this season, with his role likely to diminish and his performance in the playoffs (and for much of last season in general) not worthy of such high marks.
There’s no doubt Milton can still contribute, and Doc Rivers will give him a chance to. Not long ago, he looked like a viable starter. Milton has always been something of a funky shot-maker, dating back to his college days. If those shots start falling again, then he immediately regains value as a scoring spark and floor spacer in the second unit.
What hurt Milton last season was inefficiency. He was no longer roping 40 percent of his 3s, and without the 3s, defenders were able to more comfortably get in Milton’s grill and take advantage of his lackluster first step. Milton doesn’t have the athleticism to beat good defenders off the dribble on a consistent basis. He lives and dies by tough outside jumpers.
That said, Milton is a long outside scorer who can feign point guard duties, which bodes well for his 2K rating. I would have him firmly below Niang, but given how high Milton finished last season, even this may be too low a prediction.
