The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t had a super eventful offseason. However, some of their former players have been busy this offseason. With the Summer League finished up and the NBA enters the lull of the offseason, it seems like an ideal time to review where the former players of the Sixers are this summer.
In this article, former Sixers players who played in an NBA game last season and who were/are free agents this summer will be included in this article. For organizational sake, the players will be separated into their respective positions. If a player can play multiple positions then which position they are listed at will be at my discretion, but mostly to make sure the players are distributed evenly throughout this article.
With that being written, let’s start with where the 76ers former point guards landed this offseason. I did a similar article that came out last offseason if you like to check it out after you finish this piece.
Sixers free agent tracker 2021 offseason: Point guards
Raul Neto (2019-20)
Let’s start off with Raul Neto, who was on Philly’s roster just two seasons ago. He was a backup on the Washington Wizards last season and it appears he will have that same role again next season as he was re-signed by the Wizards.
Ish Smith (2014-15 and 2015-16)
Ish Smith is one of two players who had multiple stints with the Sixers in this article. Last season he was also on the Wizards, but this offseason he left Washington to sign with the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets are a young team with solid depth so he’s probably not going to get regular minutes and have the role of a mentor in the locker room for Charlotte.
T.J. McConnell (2015-19)
When he was on the Sixers, T.J. McConnell represented the grit of the city of Philadelphia. Sadly, he left and joined the Indiana Pacers two years ago. He brought that same grit to Indiana and now was rewarded with a four-year deal this offseason to continue to be their primary backup.
Tim Frazier (2014-15)
Tim Frazier started his NBA career with the 76ers and last season he played five games with the Memphis Grizzles. At 30-years-old, Frazier’s games played have been on the decline the past three seasons and he’s currently a free agent. With a point guard heavy draft class, there’s a real chance Frazier won’t get another NBA job anytime soon, if at all.
