Philadelphia 76ers: Ranking starting shooting guards in 2021 preseason
25. Donte DiVincenzo
It’s a shame that Donte DiVincenzo didn’t get a play in the NBA Finals for the Milwaukee Bucks. When healthy, DiVincenzo is a solid two-way player. He’s a 3-point shooter and defender. He’s a perfect complementary starter for a contending team and should be a continue to develop as he’s only 24-years-old.
24. Will Barton
“…if the Philadelphia 76ers can get [Seth] Curry to be more aggressive then he’s in the top-20 of these rankings.”
Will Barton is the type of player who could score 20 points one night and the next score only eight points. He’s a heat check type of player and is probably best suited as a sixth man, yet the Denver Nuggets have started him the last several seasons and there’s no reason why they would change that now, especially with Jamal Murray projected to miss most of the season.
23. Duncan Robinson
The Miami Heat just gave Duncan Robinson the biggest contract ever given to an undrafted player and he deserves it. He’s one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA and has been vital to the Heat’s success the last several seasons. If he becomes a better defender then he’ll in the top-20.
22. Seth Curry
I honestly don’t love having Seth Curry this low, but let’s look at the bad before the good. He’s not a good defender and honestly, he’s not as aggressive as he should be. This past postseason showed he can be a 20-point per game scorer and if the Philadelphia 76ers can get Curry to be more aggressive then he’s in the top-20 of these rankings.
21. Tim Hardaway Jr.
Unless Kristaps Porzingis can return to his former All-Star level of play, then Tim Hardaway Jr. will be the number two option for the Dallas Mavericks. That’s not his best role, he’s a third or fourth option on a championship team but the Mavericks haven’t done a great job building around Luka Doncic. That being written, Hardaway Jr. is a solid three-level score which most teams would love to have.
