Ben Simmons trade roundtable: Sixers, Kings swap backcourt parnters

PROPOSED BY: JASON PHELAN

Kings also receive: 2022 first-round pick (PHI)

In this trade, the Sixers would be sending Ben Simmons and 2021 first-round pick Jaden Springer to the Sacramento Kings for Buddy Hield, Tyrese Haliburton, and Damian Jones.

This trade would work out for both parties because on the Kings’ side, they would get a star in Ben Simmons to pair with De’Aaron Fox along with a young talent in Jaden Springer. The Sacramento Kings had the number 28 ranked defense in the NBA during the 2020-21 season. The potential addition of Ben Simmons, one of the league’s best defenders, would boost that ranking immensely.

The acquisition of Buddy Hield would give the Sixers a great 3-point shooter. Hield is a career 40 percent shooter from beyond the arc and would benefit the Sixers greatly. Hield would fit in with a lineup of Shake Milton, Seth Curry, Buddy Hield, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid. Danny Green would be moved to the bench. A shooting pair of Seth Curry and Buddy Hield would not be a terrible thing for the Sixers to have.

Tyrese Haliburton would help provide some youth and scoring off the bench. Last season, Haliburton averaged 13 points per game for the Kings and also shot 40 percent from beyond the arc. He would also be a great backup point guard with the potential to start later on in his career. Damian Jones would provide insurance at the PF/C position as well.
