Sixers’ shooting guard depth chart: Isaiah Joe — FOURTH STRING

Isaiah Joe averaged ten 3-point attempts per 36 minutes last season, which was consistent with his averages in college. The man can shoot the rock. Joe is arguably the team’s next best shooter behind Seth Curry, which will earn him looks in the rotation sooner than later. For an ever-so-brief period last season, it even seemed as though Joe might overtake Korkmaz in the rotation.

On top of his shooting, Joe has looked like a remarkably competent team defender in his brief time on the floor. He was equally strong in Summer League and the G-League, providing some optimism for his NBA future on both sides of the ball. He’s a real player. Don’t expect him to remain the fourth string forever.

Sixers’ shooting guard depth chart: Jaden Springer — FIFTH STRING

Jaden Springer probably fits best at two-guard, rather than point guard, for the time being. He’s just not dynamic enough with the ball in his hands to run the offense. That said, the 18-year-old Springer is already a better defender than most players ranked ahead of him in the rotation. The reigning 28th pick could knock on the door sooner than expected.

That said, there are certain limitations that come with being 18 years old. Springer is young, and he’s not the most polished offensive player yet. He’s smart enough to get by, and his motor runs white-hot, but the Sixers need offense in the second unit. Springer probably won’t provide a ton in his rookie year.
