On this episode of the Sixer Sense Podcast, we welcome Tom Moore from the Bucks County Courier Times to discuss the aftermath of a week filled with Sixers drama. We start with none other than the recent report that Ben Simmons desires to be traded.
Lucas and Chris open up dialogue that surrounds the report from Keith Pompey that said Ben Simmons not only does not want to be a Sixer, but also intends to hold out of training camp. As you can imagine, the news shook up the sports world, sending ripples through every network imaginable.
The trio goes over why this occurred in the manner it did, who is responsible, and what a 76ers lineup would look like without Ben Simmons on the team. Lucas, Ben, and Tom highlight the declining performances from Simmons going back several seasons.
Some trade scenarios are brought up, thinking Simmons could be sent to the Sacramento Kings or Minnesota Timberwolves. Wherever he ends up, the feeling is that the Sixers will not get back equal value for Ben Simmons, despite the facts that he has been an All-Star multiple times and has been runner-up for NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
The other big news this week came almost immediately after the Ben Simmons report. Joel Embiid made it known that his relationship with Ben Simmons is not as fractured as the media makes it out to be. The podcast dives into what Embiid really meant with his tweets and why he points the fingers at fans again, declaring that they need to be “better”.
