Re-drafting the 2019 NBA Draft — 11. Kevin Porter Jr., Phoenix Suns

Kevin Porter Jr. dropped 50 points in a game last season. That’s hard to accomplish, even if you’re chucking haymakers for a losing team. Porter has no shortage of confidence in himself, and a trade to Houston in his second season only cleared the runway for him to showcase the full extent of his on-ball creation talent — the good, and the not-so-good.

Is Porter a future All-Star? It’s certainly possible. His blend of athleticism, shake, and shooting touch are hard to come by. He takes pleasure in creating his own shot, with advanced dribble moves and a knack for wriggling free of defenders off the bounce. He can score at all three levels, and even averaged 6.3 assists across 26 games with the Rockets.

Character concerns shrouded Porter early on last season, and he will at some point need to prove his production isn’t all empty calories. He would get such an opportunity in Phoenix, where he could  run the second unit and learn from two of the best in CP3 and Devin Booker.
