Re-drafting the 2019 NBA Draft — 13. Terance Mann, Miami Heat
Terance Mann parlayed an underrated regular season into a playoffs coming out party, anchoring the Clippers’ offense next to Paul George after Kawhi Leonard tore his ACL. Mann was suddenly not only a capable spot-up shooter, but a dynamic slasher and playmaker, tapping into skills that made him a fascinating prospect out of Florida State.
In the absence of fan favorite Tyler Herro, the Heat get another fan favorite in Mann. The kid is easy to root for, with an infectious energy to his game. He competes hard on defense, he buries big shots on big stages, and he went toe-to-toe with some of the game’s best guards in the postseason.
At 6-foot-5, Mann is a versatile defender with a versatile offensive game. He ran point in spots at FSU, and has unleashed some of those passing chops in the NBA. He’s a well-rounded role player already, with what is clearly a high ceiling. It’s hard to drop him lower than this. Call it an overreaction, but Mann’s future is bright.
