Re-drafting the 2019 NBA Draft — 15. Cam Reddish, Detroit Pistons

The jury is still out on Cam Reddish, who is a very weird prospect. Once considered a contender for the No. 1 pick, Reddish played at Duke on bum legs and suffered because of it. He then arrived in Atlanta, where he has so far shot 37.8 percent from the field for his career. Yikes!

And yet, and it’s hard to bump Reddish any further than 15. He’s just such a natural talent. He lit up the conference finals with a gorgeous shooting display, and has other similar flashes of brilliance scattered across his two-season NBA resumé. Reddish is a talented wing defender to boot.

At his worst, Reddish looks unplayable. At his best, he looks like a future All-Star who could change the trajectory of a Hawks team that has already proven itself as a contender. The Pistons take the upside bet in this case, hoping Reddish’s smooth 3-point stroke, slippery handles, and rock-solid defense make him a suitable wing companion for Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey.
