3 players who will hurt from Simmons trade: Furkan Korkmaz
Furkan Korkmaz and Simmons were selected in the same 2016 NBA Draft, so there’s always been a connection between the two players. Korkmaz has slowly developed into a solid shooter off the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers and Simmons was a big part of it.
Simmons’ ability to draw in the defense and make pinpoint passes to the Turkish sharpshooter has made Korkmaz a respectable name among the 76ers fan base. Now with Simmons appearing to be gone, those great opportunities won’t come quite as often.
That doesn’t mean that Joel Embiid won’t draw in the defense to open up space for Korkmaz. Korkmaz should still get open looks on a regular basis. However, unlike Simmons, Embiid is looking to score first and isn’t nearly the level of a passer as Simmons is.
There’s a real chance that without Simmons, Korkmaz won’t get nearly the same amount of transition 3-pointers moving forward as he usually does. Simmons’ ability to attack in transition made Philly’s 3-point shooting even more dangerous and without him, Korkmaz, along with other shooters, won’t get as many of those opportunities.
