Grading fan-created Ben Simmons trades: #3

Sent in by: Frank (@ItsFrango)

Sixers Grade: A+++

Raptors Grade: B+

Blazers Grade: B

Overall Grade: B

This trade would instantly put Philadelphia in a position to compete with Brooklyn. Acquiring Siakam would give Philly more size and offense alongside Embiid. It would also give them a high level of shooting from CJ McCollum, and a bench piece in Robert Covington.

Though it may be unrealistic, this is the kind of deal the 76ers would want. All-Star caliber players in return. The major issue that will form is who Philadelphia wants to give up. Are they ready to trade Tobias Harris and Simmons at the same time? Seems a little unrealistic.

For the Raptors, it would pretty much be a Simmons and Siakam swap while Portland would get Tobias Harris and Shake Milton. Is that a deal that puts Portland over the top?

How to fix this deal

Rather than the 76ers gaining a first round pick from the Trail Blazers, they would likely have to give up a first-round pick just to get rid of Harris’s contract and to obtain both McCollum and Covington. They also could defer the first rounder from Toronto, straight to the Trail Blazers. One would argue it would be worth it.

Fans around the league are going to continue to pitch their Ben Simmons trades, but with the season getting closer and a Ben Simmons hold out becoming more likely, it is unsure what will actually happen with the three-time All-Star guard.
