Sixers podcast: Ben Simmons & Warriors trade analysis
By Uriah Young
On this episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, we welcome Nathan Beighle from Blue Man Hoop to talk Sixers/Warriors trade options.
The podcast starts off with Lucas Johnson, Christopher Kline, and Beighle discussing the pulse of the Bay Area’s interest in Ben Simmons. We want to get an idea of how Golden State Warriors fans feel about Simmons possibly suiting up for the dynasty team that includes Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
The podcast then goes into which players Golden State would realistically offer in a deal for the 76ers’ disgruntled point guard. Would a package involve Jordan Poole and James Wiseman? How about Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga? We attempt to settle what would be fair trade value for Ben Simmons from the Warriors’ perspective.
The discussion pivots toward the fit that Simmons would have on Golden State if a trade happened. Sure, he’d be a defensive specialist, but would he be a liability alongside Draymond Green, who has his shooting issues, too?
The trio then opens up a conversation about some Philly/Golden State connections. The first topic involves both teams’ superstar players. The podcast fantasizes about the idea of Joel Embiid and Stephen Curry one day teaming up as Under Armour brothers and becoming a major problem for the rest of the league. They also compare and contrast the Curry brothers, Steph and Seth, to see who would win in a 3-point shooting contest.
Another Sixers/Warriors connection is mentioned, as Andre Iguodala’s tenure with Philadelphia is the discussion focus. The podcast reflects on his time as a 76er and how his transition to a facilitator role in Golden State helped his elevate his status on a championship team.
