3 players who should play on the Blue Coats this year: Jaden Springer
Last but certainly not least, there is the Sixers’ first round pick from this draft in Jaden Springer. Like Joe, Springer faces similar issues for playing time in terms of quality depth ahead of him. The 18-year-old is easily the lowest shooting guard on the depth chart entering the season.
“Springer has the opportunity to get a lot of game reps with the Blue Coats this season. ”
As his age indicates, Springer is very inexperienced. He’s a raw prospect that has so much room to grow, especially on the offensive end. Last season, he averaged 12.5 points on 43.5 percent from the 3-point line.
What’s even more impressive about Springer’s game is his potential as a defender. However, he’s not going to get many opportunities on the Sixers with a head coach like Doc Rivers who’s famous for not playing young players.
Springer has the opportunity to get a lot of game reps with the Blue Coats this season. While it hasn’t worked for former first round pick Zhaire Smith, Springer has a foundation to his game that he can build upon.
The Philadelphia 76ers have a solid group of young players entering this season, but not all of them will be getting playing time in the NBA. Luckily for them, they can get real game experience on the Blue Coats as an alternative option.
