On this episode of the Sixer Sense Podcast, we welcome Dunking With Wolves site expert Ben Beecken, who covers the Minnesota Timberwolves. He opens up about the likelihood that Ben Simmons will get traded to Minnesota and other aspects of what this kind of deal would entail.

The conversation begins with the pulse of the Minnesota fanbase. Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline listen to Beecken to see what Timberwolves fans think about the idea of a Ben Simmons trade. Are they thrilled? Are they apprehensive?

Next, he offers his thoughts on what players or assets would likely be involved in an exchange. Lastly, the trio goes into who is not available on Minnesota, and which Sixers other than Simmons would the Timberwolves have interest in acquiring. Would they try to land Matisse Thybulle or Tyrese Maxey in a package with Simmons, or would it be more like Isaiah Joe or Shake Milton?

What would a Sixers-Wolves Ben Simmons trade look like? How did the Jimmy Butler saga impact both franchises?

The topic then shifts to the trade that shook up Philly back in 2018. The podcast revisits the Jimmy Butler trade that sent Robert Covington and Dario Saric to Minnesota. Beecken provides perspective on what Butler’s impact was on the Timberwolves, during and after his tumultuous tenure. He also speaks on whether or not the fanbase regrets trading away a young star like Zach Lavine in the process.

The podcast then dives into another Philly/Minnesota connection. In a deal that almost went through, the 76ers had Allen Iverson on the trade block in 2006. Beecken describes the trade that could have made a huge splash while Kevin Garnett was still the star in Minnesota at that time.
