Training camp is just around the corner and despite the potential absence of Ben Simmons, the Philadelphia 76ers still need to focus on the players that are there. However, their roster isn’t completely filled out yet.

Besides the fact that Charles Bassey hasn’t officially signed his contract yet, the Sixers are allowed to have up to 20 players on the roster for training camp. They have 17 if Bassey and Simmons are included in the official count. That leaves three more spots that the 76ers can fill for training camp.

Some of these players can be signed to Exhibit 10’s, which would allow Philly to assign these players to their G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, once training camp concludes. With that being written, there are three players they should consider.

Must Read. Simmons isn’t going to change, again. light

3 players that should get a training camp contract: Mason Jones

Let’s start this article with a call-back of sorts. When Mason Jones was waived by the Sixers, I wrote that it was a mistake at the time. Jones is a nice young prospect that has upside as a scorer. While the Sixers don’t have a roster spot open for him at the moment, they can continue to grow him in the G-League.

Despite being on a two-way contract for both the Houston Rockets and 76ers this past season, Jones never had the chance to play G-League bubble. Jones has the potential to round out his game in Delaware versus just riding an NBA bench like he did last season.

Jones has the ability to score the ball, there’s no doubt about the potential there. However, he’s limited outside of that. He’s not a good playmaker, defender, and rebounder. That being written, he can surely grow in those areas.

Having Jones come to training camp on an Exhibit 10 would be a smart move for Philly and him. Jones needs to develop his game with plenty of game reps and the best place to do that is on the Blue Coats.
