On this episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, we discuss the latest soap opera details related to Ben Simmons and his desire to leave Philadelphia. We start with two reports by two credible NBA sources.

Last week, Shams Charania reported on The Athletic that Ben Simmons dissuaded teammates from visiting him in California. Players like Joel Embiid, Matisse Thybulle, and Tobias Harris were going to try and convince Simmons to stay with the Sixers, but the disgruntled star was disinterested in their attempt. We discuss what this means for the team moving forward.

Then, the podcast goes into the Brian Windhorst report that Simmons is through with the Philly fans. We discuss whether or not he has a right to be upset with the fans or if he brought everything on himself due to his lackluster playoff performances dating back to 2018.

The conversation then turns toward another podcast that had Matisse Thybulle as a guest recently. While on J.J. Redick’s Podcast, The Old Man and the Three, the third-year defensive specialist was given a platform to discuss his journey to the NBA, his vlogs, and the turmoil surrounding the Sixers when it comes to Ben Simmons. We talk about whether or not we were surprised that Thybulle tried to absorb blame for the game seven loss to Atlanta when compared to Simmons’ heavy criticism.

Ben Simmons is done with the Sixers, even if the Sixers aren’t done with him. Plus, we discuss various training camp storylines.

We then explore several aspects regarding the 76ers training camp. We go into what we expect to see and what we hope to see from the many talented players on the Sixers’ roster.

The final topic that the podcast brings up is Charles Bassey’s contract. We discuss why the Sixers took so long to sign him and what his potential could amount to with playing time opportunities. We also compare him to Paul Reed, who plays a similar type game as Bassey. We ask whether or not the two young big men will be fighting for the third-string center position this preseason.
