Four early in-season buyout candidates: Kevin Love

Out of all of the players on this list, Kevin Love makes the most sense for the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s a former NBA champion and five-time All-Star that would be a great veteran presence on a relatively young roster.

Beyond experience, he can still rebound, shoot, and pass at a high level at the age of 33-years-old. If he’d join the Sixers, he’d be a good sixth man for the big man rotation. He could act as a backup four or a stretch five and could still play 20-24 minutes a night for Philly.

The issue is the Cleveland Cavaliers have been trying to trade him for some time now and haven’t had any luck. They haven’t tried to buy him out yet and he has made it clear he’s not going for a buyout right now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This could all change of course. Love is the old man in their young big man rotation of Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Lauri Markkanen. That makes him the least likely to get big minutes of that group which would make it harder for him to improve his value. It seems at some point the Cavs will just waive the two years and $60.2 million left on his deal or Love will get so unhappy and will ask to be bought out. If that happens, the Sixers should call him.

Each of the players on this list would help the Philadelphia 76ers at some level if they get bought out. The question becomes will they get bought out and will they come to Philly if they do?
