For this episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, we have regular season basketball to discuss. After defeating the New Orleans Pelicans on the road, the Sixers have some optimism to embrace in the midst of the ugly Ben Simmons situation.

The team had a chance to show off the upgraded roster and new team chemistry against Willie Green’s Pelicans. The former Sixer, now coach for New Orleans, was short-handed without their star, Zion Williamson. Yet, the Sixers handled business on the road, showing how their offense can spread the floor with four solid shooters to surround Joel Embiid.

While the Sixers won on opening night, Ben Simmons was not present. What’s next in the ongoing saga?

After our analysis of the Sixers’ victory in New Orleans, the podcast then shifts to an unfortunate, familiar topic. The hold-out that sports media has become obsessed with makes its way to our next conversation. Ben Simmons did not play in the opener after earning a one-game suspension, and the Sixers continue to express no desire to trade him. Lucas and Chris bring up his antics in practice and the recent report that the disgruntled All-Star had “treatment on his back”.

The discussion then pivots to an interview that featured Daryl Morey. The interview provided insight on what the 76ers are willing and unwilling to do when it comes to the Ben Simmons situation. The podcast explores various outcomes as it relates to what we predict will happen.

The final subject revolves around the comments made by several key Philadelphia sports figures. Our conversation brings up the quote from Joel Embiid where it became apparent that the 76ers’ leader has had enough with the Ben Simmons hold-out. We round things out with a comment from Jason Kelce, who expressed his opinion on what Simmons would have to do to change his situation.
