The Philadelphia 76ers have started out the regular season 2-1 and while the main headlines are surrounding the Ben Simmons saga, there’s one player who’s just not getting enough credit. That’s of course the team’s best shooter Seth Curry.

The younger brother of Stephen Curry, Seth Curry started his NBA journey in the G-League. He then became a journeyman, then he become a rotational player, and now he’s the starter for the Sixers.

It appears now that he might be taking another step in his NBA career. Based on the start of the regular season, Curry looks like he’s ready to step up from a starter into a star-like role. Don’t believe me, check out the video below.

Curry appears to be having a breakout season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

In three regular season games, Curry has averaged 20.3 points on 68.8 percent from the field and 76.5 percent from the 3-point line. Some could argue that he’s just having a hot start, but he looks different this season.

Before getting into this season, let’s rewind to the second round of the playoffs last year. He averaged 21.0 points on 59.1 percent shooting from deep during that seven-game span. This isn’t a three-game stretch, this is a trend going back at least 11 games, In the last game against the Washington Wizards in the first round, he had 30 points as well.

Based on the second round of the postseason and this season, he’s not only a 3-point shooter anymore, he’s a legit three-level scorer. If defenses are closing out on him, he can take a dribble into the arc for a mid-ranger or drive to the basket. Despite being 31-years-old, Curry’s game is still growing.

It’s absurd for a player in his 30s to have a breakout season, right? Wrong, it’s happened recently in NBA history. Guys like P.J. Tucker and former Philly sharpshooter J.J. Redick had career seasons in their 30s. It’s not crazy to assume that this is happening with Curry now.

Now to be clear, there will be a point where Curry’s percentage will cool down. He’s not going to be shooting above 75.0 percent from deep, but he has the chance to lead the league in 3-point percentage and having a career year scoring.

Prior to this season, Curry’s career-high in points per game was at 12.8 and there’s a good he eclipses that this year. If he averages between 18-20 points per game and is in the top-three in 3-point percentage, then he has the chance to be an All-Star in the Eastern Conference.

It might be early in the regular season, but it appears that Curry’s having a breakout year on the Philadelphia 76ers.
