Without Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and Ben Simmons, the Philadelphia 76ers won their matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. While a lot of good things came out of the game, there was one negative that the Sixers might have to address in the future.

They saw major contributions from role players like Andre Drummond and Georges Niang who combined 34 points, 20 rebounds, 12 assists, five steals, and two blocks. However, there was one potential injury.

Danny Green only played 19 minutes due to a hamstring injury and it concerned 76ers head coach Doc Rivers after the game, per Tom Moore of The Bucks County Courier. If this injury persists then there are several outcomes that could impact the team.

What happens if the Sixers miss Green for a stretch of time?

If Green does miss time, then Furkan Korkmaz appears to be the go-to replacement as Rivers has gone to the Turkish sharpshooter in the past. It should be noted that with Tobias Harris’ future being uncertain due to him being in health and safety protocols, that changes things for the Sixers rotation.

If Harris continues to miss time due to that issue, then Rivers will have to choose another player along with Korkmaz to be in the starting five. That should be Matisse Thybulle who is playing at an All-Defensive team level to begin the season.

Without Green, the starting five doesn’t have any legit defensive presence on the perimeter. Putting Thybulle in that unit will fix that issue in a major way. It also gives Rivers a chance to experiment with Thybulle as a starter instead of Green and it allows Rivers to see if Thybulle is a viable starter for the Sixers moving forward.

The Philadelphia 76ers might have a tough road ahead if they don’t have Green for a long stretch but they are deep enough to endure this potential injury.

Next. Sixers have a deep bench to begin the 2021-22 season. dark
