In this week’s episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, Christopher Kline hosts Dan Volpone of Liberty Ballers and the Gastroenteritis Blues Podcast to discuss the state of the team.

First, the pair dives into Philadelphia’s recent victories over Detroit and Chicago, which are the latest in a series of five straight wins. Dan gives his thoughts on which players have stood out, and how pleasant it has been to watch solid, undramatic basketball on a nightly basis.

The Sixers’ depth continues to shine, but injures could pose problems in the near (and distant) future. Plus, more Ben Simmons talk.

Christopher and Dan then talk about the string of recent injuries plaguing the Sixers, with Tobias Harris, Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, and Isaiah Joe all missing time. Is there any concern long term, and how do we view the ongoing conversation around Joel Embiid’s durability? That and more is discussed.

The conversation then turns to the Sixers’ depth, with Georges Niang, Andre Drummond, Furkan Korkmaz, and Shake Milton all highlighted. For the first time in a long time, the Sixers have a strong bench. That said, is the current amount of production sustainable?

To round out the podcast, Christopher and Dan take turns dissecting the Ben Simmons situation, including the recent report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, which noted the Sixers’ “frustration” over Simmons’ lack of transparency. Dan questions how tenable the situation is, and the pair discusses what exactly Daryl Morey’s endgame looks like. The situation grows murkier by the day, and some skepticism is shared with respect to Morey’s tactics.
