Sixers who must step up without Joel Embiid — Andre Drummond
The Sixers’ frontcourt has received a handful of help this offseason. Andre Drummond has become a vital part of the team’s success on the floor. Throughout his career, Drummond has served as a dominant post threat. His performance in the paint this season has affirmed the tales that have haunted opposing centers since the beginning of his career. This season Drummond has hauled in 8.6 rebounds per outing, second on the team behind Embiid.
Joel Embiid’s absence will affect the team scoring. This season Embiid has averaged 21.4 points and nine rebounds per game. Doc Rivers and the Philadelphia coaching staff will need to see an increase in point production from the nine-year veteran.
According to ESPN.com, Drummond has contributed 5.9 points per game this season. The 15.5-point difference will be a question of concern for Philadelphia’s starting lineup. If the Sixers have plans on keeping the momentum alive, they must find ways to incorporate Andre Drummond into the offense.
