Solutions to Sixers’ fourth quarter struggles: Run off-ball screens

Just because the offense isn’t moving the ball very much does not mean that the players have to stand around doing nothing. Off-ball movement is just as important as ball movement. The Sixers should run off-ball screens designed to get 3-point maestros Furkan Korkmaz or Seth Curry open looks.

Georges Niang offers a huge body to set screens while still presenting a 3-point threat. Whoever is covering Niang cannot easily switch onto Furk or Curry without possibly leaving Niang open for a 3.

When he returns, Tobias Harris will have to make some changes to his offensive game to fit into this scheme. Harris has served as a reliable late-game clutch shooter in the past. But his offense too often relies on backing his man down to the hoop. If Harris could use his body to help with off-ball screens or more quickly shoot open looks late in games, he would represent a great triple threat to close out opponents.
