Sixers rumors: Jerami Grant’s impact on the 76ers – Conclusion

Remember irony? Jerami Grant was traded in November of Simmons’ rookie year to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Ersan Ilyasova and a future 2020 first round pick. Who did the Sixers take with that pick? You guessed it — Tyrese Maxey.

We have seen how Maxey could be the point guard of the future for Philly. His latest, insane stretch of games might alleviate the concern for a floor general replacement in Simmons and dilute the obsession for James Harden or Damian Lillard. This could be the window for Grant’s fit with the Sixers and add more forward depth if a trade occurs.

Whether Grant fits in Philly is debatable, but you can safely bet that his impact would surely be felt. Should he suit up for the Sixers again, his career would come full circle. He struggled through the ugly Process Years and bounced around the league until his opportunity came. He bet on himself leaving a good situation in Denver to be the primary scorer in Detroit.

He won that bet and still has plenty of basketball left in him. If the Sixers trade Ben Simmons for Jerami Grant, it would be a homecoming and bon voyage at the same time. The welcoming of a familiar face and farewell to a bitter figure could be the best scenario when you survey the landscape of available NBA talent. Otherwise, Sixers fans may be held in suspense, indefinitely.
