The Philadelphia 76ers are about to enter the trade season with December 15th quickly approaching. The Sixers certainly will try to trade disgruntled star Ben Simmons within the following months and if they try to make a deal for multiple players, the 76ers will have to send some back in return.

Veterans like Danny Green, Shake Milton, and Furkan Korkmaz will certainly be mentioned in potential trades, but the club’s young core isn’t off-limits either. While some are valued more than others, one young player should be the most available amongst all of them and that would be Paul Reed.

Reed is the most available of the Sixers’ young core.

That isn’t to say that Reed isn’t a good prospect. He’s won the G-League’s MVP and Rookie of the Year, as well as the NBA’s All-Summer League roster. He’s a rim runner on offense and is an active body with quick hands on defense.

However, outside of rookie Jaden Springer who has tremendous upside developing in the G-League, Reed is the only player in this young core who isn’t getting consistent minutes. Yes, he’s started two games, but overall he’s been a non-factor when the roster is healthy. In fact, he’s joined Springer in the G-League.

Tyrese Maxey is the team’s starting point guard who has shown legit flashes of All-Star potential. Matisse Thybulle is an All-NBA Defender coming off the bench. Rookie center Charles Bassey has surpassed Reed on the depth chart and even Isaiah Joe looks like he’s about to overtake Korkmaz in the rotation.

Reed is fourth on the depth chart at both big men positions and while that’s great for the 76ers to have that type of depth, it’s not great for his development.

If the Sixers can include him in a trade, it wouldn’t be the worst outcome for either side.
