Sixers podcast: Tobias Harris’ struggles and new Ben Simmons buzz
By Uriah Young
On this episode of the Sixer Sense Podcast, we welcome Matty Breisch from Section 215 to talk about the latest topics related top the Sixers. We jump right into the latest games played by the 76ers.
The podcast opens up with the embarrassing loss at home versus the Miami Heat. Without Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro, the Sixers came up short on their home floor. A subpar game by Joel Embiid and horrid shooting performance by Matisse Thybulle came back to bite the 76ers late in the game. Lucas, Chris, and Matty try to analyze what else went wrong in this game and how Philly can learn from this poor performance at the Wells Fargo Center.
The conversation then shifts to another dud where the 76ers underperformed against a team without their star. Although Joel Embiid did not play against the Memphis Grizzlies, Ja Morant did not suit up either. The Sixers’ All-Star center sat out with a rib injury, and the team’s performance surely suffered without his presence. The podcast discusses what we can take way from such a loss, and the trio explores ways that Tobias Harris can increase his productivity whenever he is the number one offensive option.
Tobias Harris continues to struggle and the Ben Simmons rumor mill is heating up for the Sixers.
The podcast pivots to the latest Ben Simmons trade rumors. A recent podcast where Michael Scotto spoke with Jake Fischer about a potential Simmons deal. They discussed the possibility of New Orleans deal which included future first-round picks and pick swaps. Lucas, Chris, and Matty offer thoughts on that deal and the idea of Russell Westbrook teaming up with Embiid.
The final subjects revolve around a former Sixer and a player that Daryl Morey tried to land last season. Portland was reported to have made available Robert Covington in a potential trade. We talk about where he would fit with the current Sixers’ roster. The final discussion revolves around the idea of James Harden signing with Philly in the offseason.
