3 players the Sixers can sign due to rule change: Charlie Brown Jr.

There’s the need to fill in the spot for Niang and I decided not to fill it with another power forward. It’s time to let Reed get his shine at the position. Instead, the Sixers should use this spot to address their need for perimeter defense.

Enter in Blue Coats wing Charlie Brown Jr. who is quietly having a great season for Delaware. The Philly native was undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft out of Saint Joseph’s and signed a two-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks. The following season he also played a handful of games with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In his third G-League season, first with the Blue Coats, Brown has been a force on both ends of the court. He’s averaging 16.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals, while converting 40.0 percent of his 3-pointers. Brown has two-way potential and it’s worth seeing what he can do in what would be his third NBA season if signed by the Sixers.

Brown, Brownridge, and Oliver deserve a chance to prove themselves on the NBA level. Doing it with the Philadelphia 76ers makes sense for all parties involved.
