Ranking the top 100 NBA players — 90. Tyrese Maxey

This is only the beginning for Tyrese Maxey, who has taken the opportunity granted by Ben Simmons’ holdout and ran with it. He’s clearly a central figure in Philadelphia’s future, with blinding on-ball speed, improved shot-making from long distance, and steadily growing instincts as a playmaker. He needs to do more off-ball, but very rarely has he not shown up when called upon.

Ranking the top 100 NBA players — 89. Jordan Poole

The Klay Thompson injury cleared the runway for Jordan Poole in Golden State. It’s hard to imagine his role decreasing in any drastic way, even once Golden State is healthy. His can trade shots with just about anyone, whether it’s breaking down his defender one-on-one, or flying around screens Curry-style. The Warriors’ guard pipeline gets a lot of love, but Poole is a shining example of just how valuable Steve Kerr, Curry, and that environment is for young perimeter players.

Ranking the top 100 NBA players — 88. Scottie Barnes

Scottie Barnes is firmly entrenched in the Rookie of the Year race. He emerged immediately as a central figure on both sides of the ball for Toronto. His scoring has taken a major leap in comparison to Florida State, and his two-way prowess was never in much doubt. He can defend all over the floor, make advanced reads as a passer, and exploit mismatches as a strong-bodied 6-foot-8 scorer. He’s special.

Ranking the top 100 NBA players — 87. Tyler Herro

After thriving as a rookie and taking several steps back as a sophomore, Tyler Herro is back on the map. He’s the betting favorite for Sixth Man of the Year right now, averaging 20.2 points per game on efficient shooting splits. His quick trigger behind the 3-point line, elevated self-creation tools, and unshakable confidence make him an indisputable entry in our revised top 100.

Ranking the top 100 NBA players — 86. Franz Wagner

Franz Wagner has quickly moved to the forefront of Orlando’s rebuild, outplaying even the highest preseason expectations. At 6-foot-9, he’s one of the most well-rounded 20-year-olds you’ll find, with advanced passing instincts, some real scoring juice, and impressive defensive versatility. He’s already averaging 15 points per game and firmly outshining top-5 pick Jalen Suggs.
