Sixers podcast: Doc Rivers gets defensive, Ben Simmons-Cavs connection
By Uriah Young
We welcome Noah Levick to this episode to talk Sixers with us. There are two games we recapped, along with other subjects related to the Philadelphia 76ers that are sure to grab your interest.
We start off looking back at the win in Toronto. Against another team who had key starters missing from their lineup, the Sixers took care of business in the usual dramatic fashion. Noah Levick, Christopher Kline, and Uriah Young discuss the huge role Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris played as the game got tight at the end. We also bring up other Sixers who struggled shooting, in addition to other key performance aspects.
The second game we recap is the other recent road win versus the Washington Wizards. Joel Embiid was a monster in this game, where nobody could contain the All-Star big man. We break down the important moments of the game and the key contributors on defense and offense. We even dive into the ejection of Montrezl Harrell and how Joel Embiid is so gifted at trolling his opponents.
Doc Rivers recently got defensive when asked about the Sixers’ inconsistency against lesser opponents. We dive into his questionable media tactics, as well as the new rumors surrounding Ben Simmons and the Cavs.
We then pivot to another topic that added some more drama to the week’s Philly sports headlines. Doc Rivers was asked by Keith Pompey in a press conference about the Sixers underperforming against short-handed teams. Clearly, the Sixers coach did not like the question, and even labeled it a “dumb-ass question.” We offer our opinions on how Doc Rivers’ has handled himself with the media since being in Philadelphia.
Next, the podcast discusses the Christmas Day report from ESPN insider, Adrian Wojranowski, that connects Ben Simmons to a possible trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. We bring up multiple Cleveland players who we think could possibly land with the Sixers in exchange for Bens Simmons. Darius Garland was a name brought up by everyone on the podcast.
Finally, we assess the Sixers’ status, as the team approaches the midpoint of the season. We ask which players at this point have underachieved, overachieved, and met expectations so far. We finish the conversation by explaining whether or not the Sixers’ current record is an accurate reflection of who they are as a team.
