17. Memphis Grizzlies
Honestly, there’s no need for the Memphis Grizzlies to consider trading for Simmons. They have an MVP candidate in Ja Morant, have great depth/chemistry, and are a top team in the Western Conference.
However, if they did decide they were a Simmons away from competing for a title, the 76ers could get an impressive haul from the Grizzlies. Memphis has a great treasure trove of draft picks, young players, and veterans. Below is one potential trade that could benefit both sides.
In this proposed deal, the Grizzlies get Simmons, Andre Drummond, and Jaden Springer. Simmons provides lock-down defense and playmaking. His fit next to Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. could be special. Flipping Steven Adams for Andre Drummond is a good money-saving deal and Springer is a nice prospect they can develop slowly.
Dillon Brooks is emerging as a two-way star. Adams could be moved this offseason if the Sixers don’t want to overpay for a backup beyond this season. Ziaire Williams has shown flashes of potential this season. Getting three picks is a pretty good haul on top of the talent. The question is, does Memphis want to mess with their great chemistry?
