13. Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have been connected to Simmons in rumors this season. It’s clear that the Celtics are missing a pass-first point guard. Boston’s offense has struggled with point guards like Marcus Smart and Dennis Schroder.
On the Philadelphia 76ers part, there’s only one player on the Celtics’ roster that they would want. The question is, are the Celtics at a place where they would break up their dynamic duo to get Simmons? Well below is one way they could decide to break up of their core, although this isn’t the first time that I’ve written about a potential Celtics trade.
For the Sixers, they get their two-way star in Jaylen Brown. Brown would still have to share touches with Embiid, but for the most part, he’d be the go-to scorer on the perimeter. He doesn’t fix the playmaking problems for Philly, but their scoring and defensive numbers should improve. Josh Richardson should help the bench’s perimeter defense as well.
The Celtics get off of Richardson’s contract and get two elite defenders as well. Simmons and Tatum should make an interesting duo with their different skills sets. Simmons could be unlocked with the perimeter shooting that the Celtics can provide him. Getting three picks should be enticing as well.
