7. San Antonio Spurs

It has felt like since the Simmons rumors have begun, the San Antonio Spurs were always a dark horse team for the Philadelphia 76ers All-Star player. We’ve even had a podcast dedicated to how Simmons would land in San Antonio prior to this season starting.

Since the departure of Leonard and the retirement of Tim Duncan, the Spurs have been without a true franchise player, with no disrespect to DeMar DeRozan. Simmons could be that player for the Spurs moving forward. It’s just a question of what could Spurs send back to Philly?

Dejounte Murray has an under-the-radar star this season as he’s close to averaging a near triple-double. Having Thaddeus Young return to the Sixers at the end of his career is a nice story, plus he would give the 76ers defensive versatility off the bench. Bryn Forbes is a solid veteran sharpshooter to have off the bench. Plus one first round pick is more than fair considering Murray’s potential.

Simmons would give the Spurs star power and the only thing that would need to change is their center depth chart to maximize his potential. Reed gives the Spurs athleticism at the big man spot. Joe is another young sharpshooter to add to their depth chart.
