28. Los Angeles Lakers
To be honest, the Los Angeles Lakers shouldn’t be on the Philadelphia 76er radar. However, considering that Simmons is an L.A. guy, the Lakers make sense in that regard. It’s very unlikely that a trade would happen.
The Lakers cap situation is one of the worst in the NBA with three max players in LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook. It’s pretty hard to make a trade happen but there is one way and the hypothetical trade below gets it done.
This deal does help the Sixers move on from Simmons and Tobias Harris which has been reported as something the 76ers are interested in trying to accomplish, Per Brian Windhorst of ESPN. The Lakers clearly win in this trade by moving on from Westbrook and turning him into Simmons and Harris should be considred a win for them. Charles Bassey is in this deal for salary cap purposes.
Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn can help Philly’s depth however, even if the Sixers can expand the trade above to reroute Westbrook this isn’t a great deal for the 76ers. However, it can open up a lot of cap space and add a future pick when the Lakers theoretically won’t be as good in 2028.
