Sixers podcast: Ben Simmons throwing stones, Tyrese Maxey stepping up
By Uriah Young
This episode of the Sixer Sense Podcast brings up the latest Ben Simmons news and Joel Embiid achievement. We also offer praise for the second-year guard, Tyrese Maxey. We begin though with the recaps of the recent Sixers games.
First, Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline break down the win against the Grizzlies. With Ja Morant leading the way, Memphis came into Philly hoping to stay hot, but they could not stop the 76ers, who were without Joel Embiid. Even with their star center resting, the Sixers handled the Grizzlies in dramatic form, going into overtime. We offer thoughts on the game and the elevated play of Tyrese Maxey.
Next, the podcast analyzes the home loss versus the Washington Wizards. Although Embiid returned healthy for this game, the Sixers had no answer for Kyle Kuzma, Spencer Dinwiddie, and the rest of the Wizards. It was a let down game, but we still go over the details.
Ben Simmons is still on the Sixers’ payroll, even if he’s not getting paid. What did we learn from the newest report outlining his stance?
The podcast pivots to the recent article written by Ramona Shelburne. The ESPN journalist revealed more specific aspects of the Ben Simmons saga that we had not heard yet. From this article, Lucas and Chris discuss the details related to Ben Simmons’ expectation of Doc Rivers in the off season and Simmons’ perspective on blame when it comes to Joel Embiid.
The next topic revolves around Joel Embiid’s second consecutive NBA Player of the Month award. We discuss how much he has grown since his rookie season and specific moves he has added to his game. We also touch on the controversial decision of sitting NBA players even though they are healthy enough to play.
We also bring up the poll question of the week that asks followers of the Sixer Sense about who is the best fit for the Sixers right now. Is it Bradley Beal, James Harden, Jalyen Brown, or Damian Lillard? Listen to find out the results.
