Sixers’ Joel Embiid vs. Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic: DEFENSE

Let’s start with the defense, something that is the other half of the game and vitally important when it comes to the big man position. When it comes to the Embiid and Jokic debate, Embiid has dominated at this aspect of the game as he is just a better defender than Jokic.

Utilizing his frame and size, Embiid is a gifted defender, allowing him to be a great rim protector as the last line of defense for his team.  His footwork allows for him to guard out at the perimeter at times, especially on switches during a pick-and-roll. He doesn’t get beat off the dribble and his length makes him a tough matchup for opposing guards to score on.

Joel has already notched himself throughout the years as being in the defensive player of the year conversation, but he has also cemented himself as one of the best defenders, having been named to three NBA All-Defensive second teams. Jokic, on the other hand, has zero such appearances.
