Sixers’ Joel Embiid vs. Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic: Playmaking
There should be no debate that Jokic with his unprecedented vision and passing on the court. He is the greatest passer for his position. What Jokic may lack on defense, he makes up for with versatility on offense.
While both Embiid and Jokic can score the ball with the best of them, what sets him apart from Embiid is his LeBron-esque ability to create for his teammates in ways that many players can’t duplicate. With the absence of both Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray, the ball has been thrust into the hands of Jokic even more, to the point where has been running the offense as a point center.
At this point in time, the Nuggets’ offense is predicated around Jokic not just using his scoring ability, but using his passing. For this season alone, with the offense revolving around him, he is first in passes made, with 72.6, and averaging a career high in assist percentage with 42 percent.
Yes, there are moments where Embiid has made some great passes, especially out of the double team, but in terms of true playmaking, Jokic is on another level, which not only elevates his game but the players around him and the style in which they can play.
