It’s the NBA trade deadline and the Philadelphia 76ers will surely be working the phones to make a trade, preferably involving Ben Simmons. However, he’s probably won’t be the only player involved in trade talks.
There are at least three other players not named Ben Simmons that the Sixers should be open to trading on deadline day. While the Sixers shouldn’t be actively shopping these players, they should be open to making deals if a team calls about their availability.
3 Sixers that could be dealt at the 2022 trade deadline: Paul Reed
Let’s start with the former G-League MVP in Paul Reed. Reed was a fan favorite last season due to his potential as a defender, being a rim runner, and his high motor. At 6-foot-9 Reed can provide quality depth at either big man position.
The issue is that head coach Doc Rivers doesn’t seem interested in giving the young big man a real chance at consistency. Rookie Charles Bassey has appeared to surpass Reed in the center depth chart and the 76ers are pretty deep at the power forward position right now.
Reed could use a change of scenery so he can get more minutes. Teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, and Detroit Pistons could offer him that opportunity for more minutes.
