Sixers need to target 3 backup point guards at the trade deadline: Pistons’ reserve

Finding a quality veteran backup point guard who isn’t in their teams’ long plans can be tricky. Looking at rebuilding teams would be a good place to start and that brings us to the Detroit Pistons who are clearly trying to build around Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey.

The Pistons have some nice veterans on their roster, including Jerami Grant, Trey Lyles, and Kelly Olynyk, however, those are all front-court players. However, Cory Joseph isn’t and he’s the ideal veteran point guard the Philadelphia 76ers desperately need.

In terms of pure value, Korkmaz for Joseph should be enough. Korkmaz is a young wing who is known as a 3-point shooter, despite his poor shooting season. However, the Sixers probably won’t be the only team pursuing the veteran so adding the 76ers’ own 2023 second round pick is necessary.

This season, Joseph is averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 assists, while converting a career-high 43.7 percent from behind the arc. Joseph is the type of veteran that the Sixers need running their second unit and ideal target at the deadline.
